Seiko ICE MONSTER SRP481 review

08:19:00

If you know Seiko, you probably would have heard of the Seiko Monster.

Easily recognizable by its arrowhead hour hand and its sword-like minute hand, the Seiko monster is swooned by many Seiko fans.

The Seiko Ice monster is no exception. Retaining what we love about the normal monster, it has a nice little twist to it.

The watch weight feels great on the wrist and have have no obstruction to your daily activities

Bezel

The watch bezel has relatively deep grooves between every 5 minute marker which is slightly different from the original Seiko monster. Although I personally would have preferred the look of the original monster bezel with curved grooves, I feel like the rectangular grooves that the ice monster has makes it easier to rotate the bezel.

The bezel markings are etched and painted. Between the 0 to 20 markings, blue paint is used while the rest of the marking are painted in black. Befitting of the ice monster name if you asked me.

Dial

The dial is silvery white with matte finish. Coupled with the the outer blue rim of the dial, Its a really nice look Seiko pulled off there.

Besides having the monster hands that we love, it comes with a day-date indicator. Pretty handy to know the day too instead of the usual date for most watches

The rectangular markers is what makes it different from the original Monster. I feel that it looks like ice blocks on the dial and fits the look perfectly.

OEM Bracelet
The OEM bracelet of the ice Monster is rather similar to the Seiko flight master I reviewed previously in terms of bracelet width. Not my thing but a real sturdy bracelet with Seiko logo etched on the clasp of the bracelet.

Case back
It's a see through case back to portray the awesome 4R36 movement.

The words,"Seiko Time Corp" printed on the rotor shows the pride they take in their product. Really nice brushed finish and what's not to love about seeing the movement in action?

Lume shot

The Lume on this piece is rather weak. It requires longer exposure to light and it goes off pretty quick too. Not the best I've seen Seiko done or maybe it's just this watch that was not lumed really well.

Time keeping

Haven't really checked it's real accuracy yet but will do it soon and update it right here. So check back in a couple of days!

Conclusion

This is a real sporty watch that feels a little square to me probably due to the grooves as well as the markers.

The combination of the white and blue Colours are how it got its name as the ice Monster.

It's not the dressy kind like Seiko SARB but definitely a great choice if you're looking for a watch with a Low budget.
