Indie Watchmakers
01:49:00Taking a break from one of those big brands out there like Omega and Rolex could prove to be not such a bad thing if you actually took sometime to look at what some Indie watchmakers offer.
As fancy as your AP and Cartier pieces are, it doesn't mean that indie watchmakers can't rival them in terms of build quality when they obviously already attain a huge victory over this big brands in terms of affordability.
One of these underrated indie watch makers is Halios. If you ever owned one piece from them you will probably know what i'm talking about.
They take pride in their creations by having their logo embossed on most of their watch clasp. Holding onto the case you will probably know that its so solid that they are not messing around when they constructed it.
All of the dive watches Halios offers goes up to 300m deep. That is just numerical proof of how sound the built quality is.
With the premium Miyota 9005 movement used in Halios time pieces, its comparable to the high end ETA movement in the market. And for all this, they only charge you 650-675USD. I personally love the Tropik SS. If you have the time, go check it out.
Another one of these indie gems is Helson.
While similar to Halios in terms of built quality, the Helson sharkdiver 45 can go way way deeper than the Halios tropik ss.
The Helson sharkdiver 45 goes almost 7 astounding times deeper than the tropik SS.
Best part? The Helson sharkdiver 45 is 50USD cheaper than the tropik SS. As over-engineering is a sign of quality, you can rest assured that no daily tasks can actually break your shark diver 45.
These watches are not only built to last, they are also built with style to last. I personally Feel that the Shark diver 45 is a nice homage of the Rolex submariner. Go check it out.
So to end this post off, I've got a question for you. What is it that you look for in a watch that these indie watchmakes dont have? Keeping precise time? Signs of over-engineering? Let me know in the comments below!
